Media Review - September 13, 2018
The beginning of the new academic year, the Bolshevik tracks and the 100th anniversary of the Republic, and the reasons for the rise in prices in the country are the themes of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that in this academic year 1,592,317 people will study in educational institutions. 34 schools are being built in various regions. The number of first-graders in the country will be 47 thousand people, and the 11th grades will receive 20,379 schoolchildren.
The Bizim Yol newspaper writes about the centenary of the liberation of Azerbaijan from the Dashnak and Bolshevik forces. The newspaper writes that in Baku there are still traces of Bolshevism. For example, in the Honorable Burial Avenue there is a grave on which it is written that the deceased was killed by the "Musavatist torturers".
Soviet attributes in the form of bas-reliefs continue to exist in Baku, for example, in Murtaza Mukhtarov Street and Istiglaliyet Street.
The website Modern.az investigates the factors causing the current price hike. Oil prices are high, but consumer prices are rising. According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-August 2018 prices of consumer goods and services in Azerbaijan increased by 2.7% compared to 2017. The increase for food products was by 2.7%, for non-food products - by 3.2%, and for paid services - by 2.4%.
The author believes that prices are raised artificially, since there are no objective reasons for this. The reason is the monopoly against which countermeasures should be applied; otherwise, prices will continue to rise.
