N!DA enters the fourth year of struggle
On February 8 a civil society youth movement N!DA marked its three-year birthday at the headquarters of the Civil Solidarity Party. The event was attended by the youth leaders of opposition political parties, the National Council of Democratic Forces, and parents of the arrested activists .
Former single presidential candidate from the opposition National Council, Jamil Hasanli noted the significance of today's youth movement in Azerbaijan , drawing parallels between today and the times of People's Republic 1918-20 . "In those years, tens of thousands of young men gave their lives for freedom of Azerbaijan, and today their successors are you ," he said.
This youth movement has already suffered losses. In March and April 2013 on charges of organizing mass riots were arrested members of NIDA: Mamed Azizov , Bakhtiyar Guliyev, Shahin Novruzlu , Rashadat Akhundov, Uzeyir Mammadov , Rashad Hasanov, and Zaur Gurbanly . They, like other members of the organization, protest against the large-scale non-combat losses in the national army.
N!DA was created on February 4, 2011 , as a youth association , which announced its goal of building a democratic state and has gained popularity in society. The Movement played an important role in organizing and conducting the campaign of Jamil Hasanli.
About the power and influence of this organization testifies the largest number of the arrested and prosecuted activists.
Faces of the arrested comrades flashed today in movies and on the new website of the organization. One of such microfilms has been included in the list of nominees for European social advertising competition, which will take place in Brussels.
The birthday ended a huge birthday cake and exclamations on steadfastness of N!DA.—0—
