Oilman is suing Ministry of Labor because of error in calculating his pension
Baku/03.09.22/Turan: Bagir Khanlarov, a 74-year-old retiree, had worked all his life as an engineer at oil and gas production and drilling facilities, onshore and offshore, construction and operation of Sangachal oil terminal. Some of his 49 years of work experience were spent working in harsh and hazardous conditions.
Khanlarov retired in 2009 and received his pension until December 2021, then his pension was cut (in December 2021 it was not paid at all). Repeated calls, letters and visits to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the State Fund of Social Protection ("Pension Fund") and the DOST agency somewhat clarified the picture. Khanlarov was told that 13 years ago he had been incorrectly determined the type of pension, recalculated again, and would have 20 percent deducted from his significantly reduced pension, although audits conducted over the years revealed nothing.
"I had to go to court in search of the truth. Since May 2022 there were two sessions of the Baku Administrative Court, the 3rd session was appointed for September (Judge Mehriban Garayeva).
The Ministry of Labor treats not only pensioners with disregard, but also the court. The required documents are not provided, the consideration of the case is dragged out in every way, no specific answers are given to specific questions. Recently, the Ministry of Labor has been putting psychological pressure on me through the Anti-Corruption Department of the Prosecutor's Office (Prosecutor Rufat Kerimov).
I hope that making my case public will help to fight against bureaucratic mayhem and ensure our constitutional rights," the letter of oilman Bagir Khanlarov to Turan ends with these words.
The agency turned to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security with a request for clarification. They confirmed in writing that Khanlarov's case is in the court proceedings because of the recalculation of his pension. The next court hearing will be September 21.
"A number of facts have been revealed in the case. This evidence will be presented to the court. Because of the ongoing trial, we cannot provide the public with any information," Rashad Mehdili, director of the public relations department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, told Turan.-0-
