On June 30 the time will be moved one second ahead at 23:59:59, said electronic security Center of Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan. This step is necessary to eliminate the difference between astronomical and atomic clocks. The reason for the difference is the slowing of the Earth's rotation around its axis. In this regard, experts recommend to turn off the computer for 5 minutes on June 30 at 23:58. -03D04-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
