Over the last year the population of Azerbaijan increased by one percent
State Statistical Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan announced an update on the development of human resources in the country. Thus, according to the SSC, in January-September 2012 in Azerbaijan married 61,874 people. The number of divorces was 8,221.
Thus, for every 1,000 people, there were nine marriages and one divorce.
During the reported period, 131,227 people were born. This means 19 births per every 1,000 people.
The number of deaths was 40,970, or six per every 1000 people.
The natural increase totaled 90,257. Compared to the same period last year, the population increased by one percent, and amounted to 9,327,000 people. --05D06--

November 8 is celebrated as Victory Day in Azerbaijan. In 2020, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity through a 44-day war and a one-day military operation in 2023. Although a ceasefire declaration was signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan has yet to be signed, even four years later.
