Preliminary investigation in the case of former prosecutor completed
On June 16 the former investogator of Zardab regional prosecutor's office, Rufat Safarov, again was summoned. Before leaving for the Office for Combating Corruption in the Prosecutor General's Office, he told Turan , that the investigator Rashad Bashirov called him on Thursday at 17:00. Safarov said that the preliminary investigation lasted for seven months, and during that time, no investigation was conducted. At around 18:00 Safarov was released from the prosecution. He was informed of the complation of preliminary investigation.On June 20 he will be declared a formal decision on this matter and send the Baku serioua Crimes Court.
Safarov is the son of Eldar Sabiroglu, a formerMP and one of the founders of the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan", who last year publicly criticized the head of Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev.
In December, in the press Safarov publicly criticized the authorities for violations of the law and the poor performance of law enforcement agencies. After that Safarov told about the resignation of the prosecutor's offices. In turn, prosecutors said the dismissal of Safarov "for improper conduct." On January 15 Safarov was arrested on charges of taking bribes. However, on January 22, he was released under house arest.-03B06--
