Opening of the VII Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, extortion of 3 million manats by the former head of Baku Metro Tagi Ahmedov, suicides, and Russian-Turkish relations against the background of the Karabakh conflict are the leading themes of today's media.
The official newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the VII Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in Baku, regarding this event in Azerbaijan as a confirmation of the high organizational skills, rich culture and tolerance of our country. It is also emphasized that Azerbaijan has become a bridge between East and West.
The Azadlig writes about three million manats, which the former head of Baku Metro Tagi Ahmedov paid to the MNS ex-general Akif Chovdarov after blackmail. The newspaper writes that, in all probability, Ahmedov had something to hide from law enforcement, if he agreed to pay this amount. It is also reported that there would be a confrontation between Chovdarov and Ahmedov. All this proves that the former leadership of the MNS was a threat for Azerbaijan.
The Novoye Vremya writes that almost every day suicide is committed and talks about the price of life. The author believes the reason is psychological and social factors. After the second devaluation of AZN suicide is committed almost on a weekly basis. With regard to methods of suicide, they are mainly self-hanging, self-immolation, and throwing oneself from a tall building. People cannot repay loans or find jobs, and this leads them to suicide.
The author considers it necessary to establish a suicide center, which would be engaged in statistics, identification of potential suicides and prevention of this issue. There is a need to establish a helpline at the national level.
Yeni Musavat talks about the Russian-Turkish relations against the background of the Karabakh conflict, as well as analyzes the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Armenia. The newspaper says Russia does not solve the Karabakh conflict for already the third decade and backs the Armenians. The article says Russia wants to leave Azerbaijan in isolation, relegating Turkey from solving this problem. Cooperation with Turkey gave positive results in the April war, which scares Russia, the newspaper says.
