Prosecutor Office: Interior Ministry and National Security Ministry (NSM) will seek for killers of Rafiq Tagi (UPDATED)
Prosecutor General commented on the information on suspension the investigation into the murder of the journalist Rafiq Tagi.
According to the head of the press service of the Ministry Eldar Sultanov, "during the preliminary investigation were carried out all necessary and urgent investigative proceedings." However, due to the "non- defining a person subject to prosecution, the proceedings has been suspended."
In order to seek for that person operational orders were sent to NSM and the Interior Ministry, where search operations are going on, said Sultanov.—16/06D-

Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor Office for Serious Crimes of Azerbaijan has stopped criminal proceedings in the case of the murder of the journalist Rafiq Tagi, according to Elchin Sadigov, the lawyer of the deceased's family. Investigator informed the lawyer about it in his letter. It is noted that this decision may be filed with the complaint.
To determine the reasons for the termination of criminal proceedings Sadigov asked the investigator Nadir Mirzoyev. The latter said that the case was dismissed in connection with Article 53.1.1 - about the failure to establish the perpetrators of the assassination.
The lawyer said that in fact the investigation was not conducted. Defense twice addressed to the court on the court inaction. However, the appeals were not accepted. Now the complaint will be sent to the investigating organ, he said.
Brother of the late, Tagiyev Alim, told Turan noted that the relatives of Rafiq Tagi did not receive an official letter to dismiss the case. The family will express attitude after receiving an official document, he said.
The attempt on Rafiq Tagi was committed by unknown in the evening on November 19, 2011. He was inflicted multiple stab wounds. After surgery his health improved, but on November 23 worsened, and the publicist died in hospital.
A lawsuit was filed under an Article 126.1 (deliberate infliction of serious damage to health.) After the death the Article was reclassified in Article 120.1 (deliberate murder.)
Earlier , the Media Rights Institute (MRI) made a statement in which he demanded an end to impunity for the killings of journalists and called on the authorities to find and punish the perpetrators of the murder of Rafiq Tagi and Elmar Huseynov, editor of the magazine "Monitor". -16B06-
