Qatari guests entertained in Salyan during Ashura mourning
Qatari sheikhs, among them the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Arab country with 11 family members and a large retinue arrived in the Salyan region for hunting in the hunting estate Mahmudchala.
They move around the area in ??30 jeeps, accompanied by traffic police. The guests have filled the hotel Kur. They brought falcons and hunting dogs, said the head of the local NGO "Promoting Democracy" Emil Mammadov. Dozens of lambs were slaughtered for the guests in Salyan yesterday.
Hunting on the mourning day of Ashura has caused resentment among the local faithful, expressing surprise at the contempt by the Qataris.
According to the same source, the guests' hunting is protected by the local police. In the hunting estate Mahmudchala the hunting is carried out mainly on boar and waterfowl. It is noteworthy that in 2006 Azerbaijan imposed a ban on hunting waterfowl because of the threat of "bird flu".
Turan contacted the executive power of Salyan regarding this fact, but the officials said that they had not heard about it. -06D-
