Rally in front of Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington to demand Tofig Yagublu's release
Baku/12.01.23/Turan: Rahim Yagublu, son of imprisoned Baku politician Tofig Yagublu, and public activist Murad Guliyev held a protest in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington on 11 January.
They stood at the gates of the diplomatic mission with placards: "Freedom to political prisoners!" and "Freedom to Tofig Yagublu!" and chanted, "Freedom to political prisoners and Tofig Yagublu!"
Note that Murad Guliyev broadcast the action live on his Facebook page. The first secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US came out to them.
"Tofig Yagublu has been on hunger strike for 7 days, his condition is serious. We ask the Azerbaijani Embassy to pay attention to this. You do not represent family or personal interests here, but the Azerbaijani state.
As a citizen of Azerbaijan, you should apply to different instances because of this injustice. If you represent the state, support us," Murad Guliyev told the diplomat.
In turn, the diplomat said that the relevant institutions of Azerbaijan should be contacted about this matter. "The activity of the Embassy is to promote bilateral relations and protect the rights of Azerbaijani citizens in the United States," he said. The diplomat offered to contact the Embassy officially, then left the territory.-03-
