Salyan Oil Ltd Sues Human Rights Activist
Baku / 01.10.18 / Turan: Salyan Oil Ltd and the trade union committee operating under it filed lawsuits against the head of the NGO for the Protection of Oil Workers" Rights Mirvari Gahramanly and two former employees of the company, Zakat Abdullayeva and Mehpara Aliyeva. This is stated in the statement of the said NGO.
The company requires the defendants to compensate for material and moral damage (15,000 manat each) and 35,000 manat from the NGO that defends them.
The reason for the claim was the appeal to the court of the above-named employees who challenged their dismissal and protection of the women by the NGO for the Protection of Oil Workers' Rights.
The NGO believes that Salyan Oil Ltd, filing claims, pursues its former employees and the head of the NGO. The NGO believes that Salyan Oil Ltd thereby violates the law. In particular, the company violates articles of the Constitution on the right to receive legal assistance and on the protection of rights and freedoms. In addition, the oil company disrespected the provisions of the law on NGOs.

The NGO for the Protection of Oil Workers' Rights was established in 1996 to protect the rights of workers in the oil and gas sector and to exercise civil control in the implementation of projects in the energy sector.
