Scandal at the trial in the case of Avaz Zeynalli
Baku/10.04.23/Turan: Indictment was announced at the trial in the case of Avaz Zeynalli, the head of the site "Xural.TV", in the Baku Serious Crimes Court, on April 10.
At the beginning of the trial the defense requested that Zeynalli be placed under house arrest for health reasons. Medical documents on the need for urgent surgery were presented.
The court rejected the petition, but Zeynalli was told that a letter would be sent to the Penitentiary Service to provide him with medical assistance.
Then the prosecutor began to announce the indictment, but Zeynalli protested, saying that the prosecutor was lying. He was supported by those in the hall, a noise arose and the judge decided to postpone the hearing indefinitely.
The preparatory meeting in the case against the founder of "Xural TV" LLC Avaz Zeynalli and the head of "Səda TV" LLC Elnur Shukyurov took place on March 27.
The Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit against Zeynalli under the Article 178.2.1 (fraud carried out by prior agreement by a group of persons), 311.3.2 (repeated receipt of a bribe), 311.3.3 (large-scale bribery), 311.3.4 (receiving a bribe with threats), 32.4, 312.2 (incitement to bribery) and 312-1.1 (illegal influence on the decision of the official); against Shukyurov - according to Articles 178.2.1, 32.4, 312.2, 312-1.1, etc. Zeynalli and Shukyurov were arrested in September 2022.
On December 29, the term of Zeynalli's arrest was extended for 3 months. ----06B----
