Scandal on Heydar Aliyev’s Birthday
The authorities and the police of the capital experienced serious trouble last night, after insulting inscriptions appeared on the Heydar Aliyev monument in the heart of the capital.
So, a photo of the monument in the park in the Sabail district, in front of the Central Bank appeared on Facebook last night. The monument had an inscription Happy Slavery Day! on both sides, written with white paint in Azerbaijani and English.
On the front side of the pedestal there was an inscription Fuck the System!
The Interior Ministry does not give comments on the case.
Note that the inscription was already erased early in the morning and there were policemen in the park.
The place is surrounded by important state objects and protected. It is possible that people who inscribed the monument were fixed with safety cameras. Such a daring deed apparently took place during the night, when the lights were turned off in the park.
In any case, this is an unprecedented action committed on Heydar Aliyev’s birthday in the place where the authorities carried out an annual flower festival, timed precisely to the day of his birth. -02D-
