Sheikh Pashazade condemns the murder of Sayid Efendi

 The head of the Caucasus Muslims  Department (CMD), Sheykhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade  sent  a telegram to the President of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov,  and expressed his condolences to the murder  of famous religious figure Sayid Efendi on August 28. The letter noted that the  Efendi was "a religious leader with great  power."

"This act of terrorism committed against humanity causes resentment and anger. We strongly condemn this crime, which was designed to  cause split in society," said the Sheikh.

However, he expressed confidence that the people of Dagestan will give a decisive rebuff to terrorists and perpetrators of this crime. Sheikh expresses deep condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, and to the people of Dagestan.

Pashazadeh also sent condolences to Mufti of Dagestan, Ahmed Haji Abdullayev, and considers  the murder of Efendi as a crime aimed at dividing the Muslim Ummah.

Sayid Efendi, ethnic Avar, was born in 1937. He was considered the most influential religious leader of Dagestan. Since the mid-1990s, the entire leadership of the  DUMD belongs to his followers.—05D06—
