Since the beginning of the year almost 500 people turned to doctors due to poisoning by carbon monoxide
Last year the National Poison Control Center of Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan has received 454 complaints in connection with the poisoning by carbon monoxide. Of these, 332 people were taken to hospitals, said at a press conference on Wednesday, the head of the Center, chief toxicologist at the Health Ministry Azer Magsudov. According to him, the health of 10 percent of hospitalized was assessed as severe, 70 percent - an average severity. The rest received primary care and were discharged.
Magsudov noted that every week due to poisoning from carbon monoxide the Center received 10-12 calls from the regions. Observations show that the majority ofpoisoned people are middle-aged people.
Poisoning usually occur indoors, therefore the toxicologist recommends to be careful with the heaters.
Magsudov noted that timely appeal to physicians and primary care can prevent tragic consequencies. -36B--

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
