Sister of the ex-head of the IBA asks for meeting with her brother
Baku / 15.01.19 / Turan: Amina Hajiyeva, sister of the convicted ex-chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev appealed to President Ilham Aliyev with a complaint about the actions of the Prosecutor General"s Office, which forbids her to meet with her brother.
Hajiyeva reports that meetings and telephone conversations with her brother were stopped as a result of the ban imposed in September 2018.
"The General Prosecutor"s Office is not responding to our requests," writes Hajiyeva. Attempts to resolve the issue by contacting the Administrative and Economic Court, so nothing is given.
"The barriers, obstacles and lawlessness generated by traditional views, cause us great hardships. Lawlessness, which has been going on for several months in law enforcement, forces me to turn to you again. We believe that our consistent treatment does not reach you. Therefore, we are looking forward to your help in eliminating lawlessness," writes Amina Gadzhiyeva.
* Jahangir Hajiyev was arrested on December 5, 2015, and the Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Hajiyev and seven others were found guilty of abuse, fraud with causing major damage, embezzlement, abuse of office, giving a bribe.
Hajiyev did not plead guilty, and his defenders called the court biased. -0-

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. On Tuesday, the General Prosecutor's Office announced the initiation of new criminal cases against agricultural product exporters who allegedly concealed their earnings abroad. Specifically, the Sumgayit City Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case under Articles 208.2.1 and 208.2.2 (failure to return foreign currency to the country in large amounts by prior agreement of a group of individuals) and Article 308.2 (abuse of office causing serious consequences) against officials of the company "SOİL BOONS" LLC – Jahangir Aliyev, Elyar Gadzhiev, Mehman Mirzamedev, Saleh Gabilov, and Aly Aliyev.
