Snow Avalanche Blocks Guba-Khynalyg Road
Baku / 19.02.18 / Turan: A heavy snowfall in the high mountainous area of the Greater Caucasus caused a snow avalanche that blocked traffic on the high-mountain road Guba-Khynalyg last night. As a result, the transport communication with a number of high-altitude villages in this zone has been discontinued, as the local executive power told Turan.
According to the same source, the snow avalanche descended to the 35-37-km segment of the road, and in this place the height of the snow cover reaches 4-5 meters. Special equipment is used to clear the road. According to preliminary data, there are no victims.
Last night, heavy snow fell in the Gusar and Khyzy districts.
Most snow fell in the area of the Khynalyg village, where the snow cover reaches 43 cm. -16D-
