The negotiations between Bos Shelf Enterprise with the leadership of state-owned SOCAR on the increasing their salary, providing insurance, etc., completed at around 15:30. About 800 employees of BOS SHELF, producing offshore oil platforms, today launched a strike to demand higher wages and provide health insurance.
One of the strikers told Turan that the salary of workers is 500 manats and they need to increase it to 800-900 manats. According to the source, the foreign company's managers are on 15-20-30 thousand manats.
The workers also require the provision of health insurance. The leaders persuade the workers to start work, promising to consider their demands.
"But we do not believe in it, and require written assurances on a high level,” said the source.
The head of the Committee to Protect Oil Workers’ Rights Mirvari Gahramanli said the workers' demands are fair. According to her, the salary of employees of the oil sector does not differ from the rest of the economy.
