The former "prisoners of conscience" create a human rights organization
A group of former "prisoners of conscience" decided to set up a public association to protect the rights of people arrested for political or social activities, according to Oktay Gyulalyev, one of the initiators of the new NGO, the former "prisoner of conscience", Coordinator of civil society "Kura". He said that the new organization will defense the activists who can be arrested, will follow the rights of prisoners, improving prison conditions, and their rehabilitation after release, will uphold the institution of the Bar.
According Gyulalyev, the initiators of the new organization made the decision to announce its creation on September 8. At today's meeting it was agreed to prepare a logo and text of the statement on the creation and goals of the organization.
Each of the 12 founders will prepare a report on the situation with the rights of prisoners and detention conditions in prisons, where they were serving sentences. Creation of a database on every wrongfully convicted is proposed.
As for the name of the new structure, there are several options, and the final choice will be made on September 8. For this purpose, they will meet with lawyers. Meeting with representatives of international organizations, as well as the creation of a special unit in social networks is also planned.
In addition to Gyulalyeva , among the founders of a new organization are the former "prisoners of conscience": Arif Hajili, Tural Abbasli, Sahib Karimov, Muhammad Majidli, and others.—06B-
