The new residence of the sheikh, as evidence of religious freedom
On August 14, Sheikh Pashazadeh arranged Iftar dinner at his new residence on the occasion of Ramadan. The ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev and visitors from the North Caucasus and the Turkic-speaking countries.
The Sheikh said that the residence was built in one year to the most modern standards. "The new residence, and the constructed or reconstructed sanctuaries are a clear indicator of the sensitivity of the people and government of Azerbaijan to the national-spiritual values, freedom of religion and conscience," said the sheikh.
The new residence can arrange Iftar for 300 people simultaneously. Turning to Ilham Aliyev, the sheikh said that the Iftar ceremonies arranged in Azerbaijan show, "the traditional tolerance and demonstrate the close cohesion of our country", and "the rapid socio-economic development of our country, and reigning of exemplary tolerance recognized by the international community in Azerbaijan."
Emphasizing the special merits of President Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s head Mehriban Alieva in preserving and strengthening national and spiritual values, the Sheikh said that the state carries out successive steps to restore mosques and temples, synagogues and churches with a long history.
In turn, Ilham Aliyev called the Iftar "clear evidence of community cohesion and unity between state and religion in the name of common ideas."
Note that the new residence of the Sheikh was built next to the old one in the Narimanov district of the capital. In appearance it resembles the House of Festivities. It is not known how many millions were spent on this building and it is not clear what the origin of these funds was. Significantly, the presentation of this luxury coincided with the moment, when the citizens of Azerbaijan collect aid for quake-hit compatriots in South Azerbaijan. -02D-
