The public interest should not violate the freedom of expression - expert
The escalation of tension on the front at the beginning of August showed a lack of willingness of many Azerbaijani media to work in an emergency. This is especially evident in the dissemination of information to the frontline when publications often revealed details about the deployment of troops and equipment moving.
Such an opinion in an interview with Turan was given by an expert in the field of media Alasgar Mammadli, commenting on statements by the head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev to follow media coverage of state secrets on the war theme.
Mammadli said that there is a need for education to improve the knowledge and skills of media and journalists in extreme situations.
As for the statement by Mehdiyev that the press should write about the success of the development of the country, along with objective coverage of positive facts, the press should criticize negative phenomena, Mammadli said.
Criticism also serves as a development. Therefore, it is important to maintain a balance with the constitutional right to freedom of expression, said the expert. -06D--
