Today the Nasimi District Court postponed consideration of the submission of the investigation on the extension of the arrest of the journalist Rauf Mirkadyrova for two months - until November 19. The reason for this was the removal by protection the judge Shalala Hasanova, who previously extended the term of arrest of the journalist. In this connection, the session was postponed until September 4, told Turan's lawyer Elmar Suleymanov. The defense does not know why the detention is prolonged, because there is not any evidence against Mirkadyrov.
On August 25 Mirkadyrov was transferred to a prison hospital in the jail of the MNS. According to the lawyer, Mirkadyrov still suffers from sudden changes in blood pressure.
* Mirkadyrov was arrested in April 2014 on charges of treason immediately after being deported from Turkey. He categorically denies the accusation. The real reason for his arrest is Mirkadyrov’s participation in the projects of the Institute of Peace and Democracy Leyla Yunus, who was also accused of treason.
It is noteworthy that the prosecution of Leyla Yunus and her husband Arif Yunus in treason had been separated from production, and they were convicted for economic crimes. -16B06-
