The trial in the case of Mamed Ibrahim
Baku/19.11.18/Turan: Today in the Surakhani District Court of Baku, a preparatory meeting was held in a criminal case against the adviser to the chairman of the Popular Front Party (PFPA), Mamed Ibrahim. Mamed Ibrahim was arrested on September 30, 2015 and convicted of hooliganism for 3 years. He was recognized by human rights activists as a political prisoner. The day before the end of the term, he was charged with illegal possession of prohibited items (knife), under which he faces up to 6 months in prison. On September 28, the Yasamal Court chose a preventive measure in the form of an arrest for 2 months with regard to Ibrahim. During today's meeting chaired by the judge Jeyhun Gadimov, Ibrahim complained about his health. "I have serious problems with my eyes. After the operation, the sight in the second eye also weakened. Make whatever decision you want on faster," said Ibrahimov.
Lawyer Javad Javadov petitioned to transfer Ibrahim before the completion of the judicial investigation under the house arrest. However, the judge said that Ibrahim had already been convicted, and there are no guarantees that he will not hide. The judge also did not allow Ibrahim to sit next to his lawyer and banned the audio and video recording of the process. The lawyer also petitioned to exclude the knife, allegedly withdrawn from under the pillow of Ibrahim. He indicated that the examination had concluded that the knife had no fingerprints of Ibrahim. However, this petition was not granted. The hearings are essentially scheduled for November 28. - 06D-
