Turkish court offers to arrest Intigam Aliyev?
Turkish judicial authorities handed over to Azerbaijan court orders in the case of Intigam Aliyev, the head of «Legal Enlightenment" society.
The court of Turkey accused Intigam Aliyev of insulting and threats against public officials and obstructing them in discharging their duties.
For these charges Intigam Aliyev can be imprisoned for a period from six months to three years. The Prosecutor Office of Turkey wants the materials on charges be presented to Intigam Aliyev, the necessary actions be taken, Turan was told by Intigam Aliyev.
The indictment alleged that when a police control at the Istanbul airport, on December 6, 2011, Aliyev insulted a police officer by the name of Hussein Cunt. The indictment stated that Aliyev called the police "a servant." The reason for this was incorrect behavior of the police officer who deliberately threw the passport of a lawyer.
On the same day Intigam Aliyev said the media of Azerbaijan on the telephone about brutality of police, and violence against him at the police station, where he was held during the day. The names of those policemen are Salaetdin Erkaradj, Alaitdin Sarikaya.
After that, many political parties in Azerbaijan and more than 50 NGOs have condemned this attitude to the famous Azerbaijani lawyer.
In his appeals to the Turkish Embassy and the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, they demanded a fair and just investigation into the incident, but these appeals remain unanswered. Prosecuting authorities in Turkey and the courts have rejected all complaints and claims of human rights.
Intigam Aliyev repeatedly commented on the incident. According to him, the criminal case was filed in December of last year, but over the past eight months neither he, nor his lawyers informed about anything. "I believe that their goal is to arrest me. I was told about it when police detained me," said Intigam Aliyev.-05D04-
