Why is the two-time European champion judged?
The trial in the case of the double champion of Europe in karate, referee of the international category Renad Aliyev continues in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. He is charged under the Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code ( large-scale illegal drug trafficking.) He faces imprisonment from 5 to 12 years. On April 4, police officers who arrested Aliyev testified at the trial. Human rights activist Ogtay Gulaliyev wrote in facebook, there were many contradictions in their testimonies.
One of the operatives introduced Aliyev as a user of drugs, and another as a drug-keeper. However, in the examination it is said that he was not at all a drug user. According to the human rights activist, there were no witnesses during the arrest of Aliyev. The sportsman was handcuffed and brought to the police, where they put drugs in his back pocket. Aliyev was threatened with trouble by family members, after that he signed false testimony. The next meeting will be held on 18 April.
The human rights activist considers the charges against Aliyev have been fabricated, and the arrest was ordered, as in the cases of political prisoners. Aliyev himself denied the charges, saying that he was arrested because of his brother, oppositionist Riyad Aliyev, who is in exile in Germany. The latter was the rector of the Kiev branch of the abolished university "Tafakkur". In exile, he founded the site "Azereurotaymstv", where he sharply criticized the head of Azerbaijan, sometimes writing beyond ethical framework. -03B-
