Will Results of Examination of Young Activists Be Objective?
On Thursday the Baku Court of Appeal dismissed the complaint from the youth activists Bayram Mammadov and Giyas Ibrahimov about the refusal to release them under house arrest. Their lawyer Elchin Sadigov told Turan.
Recall that the young people are accused of drug trafficking, but the real reason for their arrest, as they think, was the inscription Happy Slaves! on the monument to Heydar Aliyev.
As it is no longer possible to appeal to the courts of Azerbaijan, the defense intends to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights of the violation of the young people's rights to liberty and personal safety.
According to the lawyer, in response to the complaints of torture, by the decision of the Baku Prosecutor's Office the two young men underwent a forensic examination on May 26.
"They gave the expert detailed testimonies on torture. And then they were examined," said the lawyer.
With regard to the health of Mammadov and Ibrahimov, then, according to the lawyers, "they are relatively better now."
"The pains have significantly weakened. The purulent wound on Bayram’s arm gradually heals," said Sadigov. -06D--
