Call of Committee Against Repression and Torture of Azerbaijan to International Human Rights Organizations
The coordinator of the Committee against Repression and Torture of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Gyulalyev, needs your help. He was hit by a car on October 29, 2019, when he was returning from a Committee meeting, and fell into a coma from his injury. Unfortunately, due to untimely medical assistance, his state of health became critical, and he is in a serious situation.
Doctors at the American Hospital in Istanbul are fighting for his life. Qualified medical assistance is provided thanks to the financial support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which has been allocating funds for treatment for more than a month. However, from December 10, the Fund suspends financing of the treatment in Turkey and offers to continue the treatment in Azerbaijan. We are not sure that in Azerbaijan this treatment can be effective. To continue qualified treatment, funds and advisory assistance from leading experts in the field of brain injury are needed.
Addressing you, we urge you to make your efforts to support the further treatment of Ogtay Gyulalyev and save his life.
We hope for your human rights solidarity.

Azerbaijan has spent much of the past half-year thumbing its nose at the United States and European Union over Western criticism of Baku’s authoritarian political practices. But it appears the West has at least one weapon in its arsenal capable of getting Azerbaijani leaders’ attention.

Aliyev dwelled on the expanding North-South trade route – in which Azerbaijan serves as a hub for commerce connecting India, Iran and Russia – saying it had “global significance for cargo transportation and security.”

In honor of the holy month of Ramadan, I appeal to you with a plea for help and justice. Nine years have passed since the actions of our enemies plunged our family into darkness, depriving us of happiness and peace. Today they are trying to deprive our brother and me of our last home. This egregious act not only violates the laws of our country, but also ignores the fundamental right to housing, a principle that is supported throughout the world. It is important to note that the property in question was acquired in the 1990s, long before my brother Jahangir Hajiyev took up his position at the International Bank of Azerbaijan.

I would like to address society, but at the same time, the Georgian Dream and its representatives.
