What criteria should the Azerbaijani ambassador to Israel meet?

It isa  gratifying decisions to open an Azerbaijani embassy in Israel. Although at one time we and friends in Israel waited for the opening of the embassy in the late 90s, the delay of the embassy did not overshadow the constantly developing bilateral relations and broad cooperation. On the contrary, relations developed in ascending order.

In fact, the military and technological support of Israel to Azerbaijan and the ever-expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel and the friendly relations between the two countries are due to the historical relations that exist between our peoples and the unlimited contribution of Jewish citizens who are an integral part of the Azerbaijani people.

The position and support provided by Israel during the 44-day Patriotic War for the right of the Azerbaijani people to live on their land and in the post-war period was a historical test, and Israel proved with its policy that it is next to Azerbaijan. Israeli efforts to treat our soldiers who have lost their eyes by Israeli doctors and to rebuild the occupied territories are an unforgettable historical relationship. Along with this show of alliance and a happy occasion, Israeli flags were flown in the streets of Baku along with the flags of Turkey and Pakistan.

I believe that the opening the embassy will fully bring relations between the two countries to the level of an alliance, and relations will continue to develop on the basis of mutual trust. I am also doubly glad that relations have reached such a level, because at one time my speeches at various Israeli universities and research centers emphasized that relations between the two countries would develop in this direction.

Azerbaijani-Israeli relations are not focused on any third country competing with Israel, as some circles think, but rather on a relationship based on mutual cooperation and friendship and expressing the desires of the peoples of the two countries.

I believe that the opening of the embassy and the diversification of cooperation will also contribute to the development of science in Azerbaijan. The return of Azerbaijani students educated at various Israeli universities will be an important source of support for the development of modern technologies and medicine in Azerbaijan.

The geographical position of Azerbaijan and unresolved security issues after the war require strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel in the military and security spheres. In this context, the Israeli experience in anti-terrorist operations and the practice of tracking down and neutralizing suspicious elements can be very useful for the Azerbaijani security forces.

I think it's also important at the moment who will be the ambassador to Israel. The ambassador that Azerbaijan will send to Israel should not be tied to the appointment of any diplomat from the Foreign Ministry, a different approach should be applied here. It would be even more appropriate to appoint a world-famous, experienced person familiar with the history of the Middle East, Israel and the Jewish nation, who knows the intricacies of the long-standing conflict in the region, as ambassador to Israel. Considering that the young diplomats of Azerbaijan were not seriously involved in these issues, the appointment of a new ambassador from among the influential Jews of Azerbaijan, as the first ambassador to Israel, would establish bilateral relations on a solid basis. The ambassadors of most countries of the world in Israel always meet such indicators and have authority in their country. In my opinion, Azerbaijan should also make a decision on this issue, taking into account multilateral factors.
