Who Should Carry Torch of European Games?
The stormy public reaction to the government's decision to make a list of torchbearers for the European Games does not subside. Against this background, almost everyone thinks about the question who should carry the torch, or whom I would offer to carry it.
Setting aside the question of the need or the uselessness of this action, we think about how it is organized. If you recall a similar level of competition - the Olympic Games in different countries and in different periods, in many cases, the issue became a topic of public discussion. That is, there was some discussion that defines the priorities and parameters. In this case, nothing happened, and on the contrary someone made a list and decided that it will be so. Who made the list and who approved it is not hard to guess. Here is the result of the Family Council.
It is not difficult to imagine that the torch at the Olympic Games in Athens was carried by, say, Demis Roussos, in Los Angeles – by Michael Jackson, in London – by Eric Clapton, etc. All of them were figures of musical culture of the world level.
And what will we have? Will it be a 72-year-old woman with heart disease, which does not sing, cannot run, but can only walk?
And indeed, does this nation not have any people worthier than representatives of show business and musicians? Is this our most valuable option?
In all countries, the torch is carried by famous athletes - active ones and veterans. If we want to distinguish, we should have thought it over.
Today I have stumbled upon a Facebook publication by a user Zaur Yakubov. This young man believes it would be right to hand over the torch of the Games to the disabled and veterans of the Karabakh war. It is a wonderful idea that deserves full support.
Among the torchbearers we will not see the first Azerbaijani conqueror of Everest Israfil Ashurly and many other worthy people who represent Azerbaijan worldwide.

In Ukraine, a brutal, bloody war caused by Russian aggression continues, claiming lives, destroying homes, demolishing infrastructure, and inflicting incalculable harm on the environment and surrounding natural ecosystems. Ukraine, more than anyone else in this world, strives for peace, as we bear the daily brutality of this Russian-Ukrainian war. We are at the forefront of the struggle for the right to life, freedom, and justice. Ukraine seeks a just peace that will lay a solid foundation for a stable future for Europe and the World, and the only way of achieving this is to implement President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula (the Ukrainian Peace Formula).

On the eve of a large-scale flood approaching Baku, a disturbing incident occurred in the village of Buzovna, where a Lada Priora car fell into the ground, literally collapsing the road beneath it. The driver miraculously remained unharmed but vowed to seek justice, promising to file an official complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Azersu OJSC, the state-owned water supply and sewerage company, often associated with deeply rooted corruption.

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.

Russian authorities and pro-Kremlin influencers have been spreading false information about alleged Reporters Without Borders (RSF) research into Nazi tendencies within the Ukrainian military, which was featured in a viral video falsely attributed to the BBC. RSF exposes the inner workings of a disinformation campaign designed to justify President Vladimir Putin's war narrative.
