Actor Alexander Nikitin will Play Major Role in Film about Heydar Aliyev
Completion of the first film of the trilogy "The most simple name" of the life of the third President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, whose part in the movie will be played by the Russian actor Alexander Nikitin, is scheduled for May 2013, when he 90th anniversary of the prominent politician’s birthday will be celebrated.
According to the main film director Ramiz Fataliyev, the first picture covers the period of Aliyev’s life and work from his birth until 1969, when he was elected first secretary of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan SSR.
The actor Alexander Nikitin said that before they started shooting, he became acquainted with a lot of material on the Internet about Heydar Aliyev, watching his mannerisms and gestures.
"I am honored to play Heydar Aliyev - a legendary personality, who is known all over the world. When I was first called to Moscow and was invited to shoot, I was delighted, but I did not expect that I will get the starring role. They were sure there are similarities in appearance with Aliyev, especially in his youth," said the actor.
The movie’s team is international – it includes filmmakers from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Among the Russian actors involved in the project there are Constantine Glushko and Alexander Andreenko in the roles of interior ministers of Azerbaijan SSR in different years. Also expected to attend are Emmanuel Vitorgan, Yuri Stoyanov, and others.
The whole filming process will take about six months. The filming will take place in Nakhchivan, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Riga, RIAN reports. -0 -

On February 11, the Ritual Theatre and Creative Laboratory in Baku hosted a powerful documentary theatre performance, “The Melting Snow Stories of Baku,” marking the conclusion of a workshop dedicated to site-specific theatre.
