The publication Eurosport published an article stating that the fee of the famous American singer Lady Gaga for her 10-minute performance at the opening ceremony of the European Games in Baku amounted to 2 million US dollars.
The fee for one song, Imagine, contrasted greatly with the fee of Paul McCartney, who performed at the opening of the Olympics in London for a notional amount of 1 GBP.
Was it worth arranging the performance for such money? Eurosport asking this question added that Lady Gaga was "hiding" in the hotel room for a few days, so that nobody could see her and to make her appearance at the ceremony a surprise. -02D-
