Baku / 07.09.18 / Turan: In London, the Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group publishing house published the book by the Azerbaijani historian, chairman of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Hasanli to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan People's Republic (APR: 1918-20)
"Leadership and Nationalism in Azerbaijan: Ali Mardan Bey Topchubashov, Founder and Creator".
Turan was informed about this by Hasanli himself.
This book was published in the series of the history of Russia and Eastern Europe with the foreword of the US historian, Professor of Massachusetts University Audrey Alstadt.
The monograph reflects the most interesting points of 70-year-old life and 50-year-old social and political activity of Alimardan Bey Topchubashov, chairman of the parliament of APR and leader of the Azerbaijani delegation at the Versailles conference.
The book introduces the English-speaking reader to the situation of the Muslims of Azerbaijan, the Caucasus and the Russian Empire at the end of XIX - early XX centuries, their struggle for their national and religious rights, and the socio-cultural life of oil Baku.
Topchubashov's image as a bright Muslim politician is vividly illustrated in the book. Topchubashov appears before the reader in the image as a creator and participant in the historical process as the leader of the Muslims of Russia and the Caucasian Turks.
The work contains rich information about the place Topchubashov in the two-year history of APR, his merits in recognizing the independence of Azerbaijan at the Versailles Conference, and the role as the elder of Azerbaijani and Caucasian political emigrants in Europe.

In Azerbaijan, the cost of books spans a broad spectrum, typically ranging from 5 to 25 AZN ($3 to $15). In a world increasingly marred by the effects of climate change, art has emerged as an unexpected, yet powerful, platform for raising awareness and sparking conversations on environmental responsibility. One such endeavor is the exhibition "A Different Kind of Climate," currently on display at Kapellhaus with support from the Goethe-Institut. The timing of this exhibition is no coincidence, aligning with the upcoming COP29, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Baku from November 11 to 22. The exhibition seeks to engage audiences on pressing ecological issues, blending local and international perspectives.
