Animals Infected with Bunyaviridae in 35 Regions
Baku/29.08.13/Turan : On Wednesday, the Ministry of Agriculture, with the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Health, held a board meeting on the theme: "The current situation in the livestock sector, the measures for the treatment and control of viral diseases within the family Bunyaviridae, and the challenges ahead."
As the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture stated, the head of the State Veterinary Service Siyala Rustamova noted that the disease has spread predominantly in the lowland areas of Azerbaijan since the end of July.
Laboratory studies have identified cases of infected animals in 35 districts. In this regard, the Veterinary Service appealed to the Office International des Epizooties.
However, Rustamova said that the disease is treatable and arrangements have been made.
"This virus has spread from the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, France, etc. It does not threaten the health of people, and there is no reason to worry," said Rustamova.
The Agriculture Minister issued instructions to take immediate measures to prevent the spread of disease among animals.
It was decided to send 15 tons of disinfectant - caustic soda - to the veterinarians in the areas. -03D06-
