During 2013 ukraine to buy approximately 26 billion cub.m. of Russian gas
During 2013 Ukraine will buy approximately 26 billion cub.m. of Russian gas, said Ukrainian Premier Nikolai Azarov during the session of the round table “Let’s Unite Ukraine,” reported the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers press office.
Azarov said that “the measures aimed at energy efficiency and energy saving and increasing local production taken this year will allow reducing purchase of Russian natural gas by 40% against 2010.”
“This year Ukraine will use 40% less of Russian gas, than in 2010. This is about 26 billion cub.m. against 37 billion cub.m.,” he said.
He added that the government “ has worked hard to increase local gas production.” In particular, the agreements on production of shale gas on the Black Sea shelf have been concluded and initialed and gas extraction from the depleted sources has been resumed owing to application of advanced technologies.
For several years Ukraine has been negotiating with Russia to reduce oil delivery prices. Last year Ukraine bought over 32 billion cub.m. of gas from Russia. The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly said that in 2013 the volume of purchase will be reduced.
ZN.UA has found out from the reliable sources that from January 1 to November 30 2011 gas consumption totaled 48.5 billion cub.m., 44.1 billion cub.m. in 2012 and 40.6 billion cub.m. in 2013. Therefore, the tendency towards reduction of gas consumption in Ukraine is evident. Durign 11 months, 2013 gas import from Poland and Hungary totaled 2.1 billion cub.m. of gas.
During 11 months gas transit via Ukraine totaled 92.9 billion cub.m. in 2011, 73.1 billion in 2012 and 75.7 billion cub.m. in 2013.—0--
