Gandja Plants Close 1,279 Jobs
In 2015, the number of employees in industrial enterprises of Gandja city, the third largest industrial city in Azerbaijan, decreased by 1,279 people. The annual report of the Executive Power of Gandja noted that 4,875 people are employed in the industrial sector of the city. Thus, last year alone the number of employees in industry in this city with a population of about 330,000 people was reduced by 20.8%.
Over the past ten years the industrial enterprises of Gandja laid off 6,350 people.
A little "better" is the position of the Sumgait workers. In the years 2005-2014, 1,129 jobs were closed in Sumgait.
For comparison, the number of jobs in the industrial enterprises of Baku decreased by 1,527 in 2005-2014.

The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has taken a significant step towards a unified global response to climate change.
