Imports of Fish and Seafood Decreased
In 2014, Azerbaijan declared the import of 13 thousand ton of fish, crustaceans and mollusks totaling $ 8 484.6 thousand. In comparison with 2013 the import in weight terms increased by 0.5% according to the report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).
Last year, a ton of fish was shaped by the Azerbaijan customs in the average price of $ 652.6. This is 1.7% higher than in the previous year.
Imports of canned fish amounted to 3,929 tons, 821 tons or 31.7% less than in 2013. The declared value of canned fish in the past year amounted to $ 1,226.4 / ton. In 2013, canned fish was "evaluated" at the customs by an average of $ 277 more expensive.
It is noteworthy that the official imports of fish and seafood in 2013 amounted to 17,654 tons. The State Statistics Committee (SSC), in turn, referring to the data of the State Veterinary Supervision at the Ministry of Agriculture, said the real volume of imports was at the level of 20,177 tons, a 14.3% increase over SCC.
According to SSC estimates based on household budget survey, in 2013 the average per capita fish consumption was 7.1 kg. It is believed that this number is a bit too high, as there is no exact calculation of the volume of fish production in the Caspian Sea and in inland waters. The data on fish catch quota are not that credible either.
Last year, the state-controlled fish catch on the basis of grants permission for a fee amounted to 880.6 tons. It is 414.6 tons less than the allocated quota. At the same time, the government reports on the whole catch of 50.1 thousand tons of fish, which is estimated by them at about 195 million manat. –0--
