Opening of seaport Alat postponed until the end of 2014

Completion of the first phase of construction of the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat settlement is postponed at the end of the year, although it was planned for June 1.

Only in 2013 from the state budget of Azerbaijan allocated 109.4 million manat to finance the first phase of the project . As the representative of the contractor for construction of Turan - Eurasian construction corporation of " Evraskon " (formerly JSC  «Azerkorpu), has opened a channel length of 7.5 kilometers to sushi and seven meters deep , and continues to construct facilities on land. At the completion of additional funding - said the agency interlocutor.

National Coordinator of the Eurasian Transport Corridor (TRACECA) Akif Mustafayev said Turan, that this international organization is waiting for a new transport hub , which will pass through the Transport Corridor Europe -Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) , and possibly in the future , and the North-South Corridor , that without the logistics center is not possible.

The most expensive first phase of the project is estimated at 540 million manats. The total cost of construction of the port - 870 million manats ( for the second phase is planned to spend 150 million on the third - 180 million).

At the first stage the port will be designed for handling up to 10 million tons of cargo and 40,000 containers , at the second stage - up to 17 million tons of cargo and 150,000 containers , the third - to 25 million tons of cargo and 1 million containers . Infrastructure necessary for the normal functioning of the port will be placed on an area of ??400 hectares.

Construction of the new port, located 65 km from Baku city began in November 2010. The ambitious project was prepared by the known Royal Haskoning  (http://www.royalhaskoningdhv.com)  from the Netherlands.

This is not the first attempt to build an international port in Alat settlement . September 3, 2007 the company  «GS Engineering & Construction « ( South Korea) Ministry of Transport presented the final version of the project cost-effective value of $ 396 million

According to him, the port designed to receive 11.6 million containers ( perfectly acceptable for Azerbaijan ) was supposed to come into operation in 2011 , and in 2015 was to reach full capacity. In Azerbaijan, the government chose " the largest and most beautiful logistics center in the region ." The result was the expensive Dutch project. - 17D-
