Passenger Flow in Heydar Aliyev Airport Increased by 29% in September
Heydar Aliyev International Airport serviced 365,000 passengers in September this year, which is 29% more than the same period last year, the AZAL press service reported on October 5.
In total for the first nine months of 2016 the Baku airport handled 2.5 million passengers. Of these, 1.5 million passengers preferred AZAL. This is 13% higher than in September last year.
On domestic flights AZAL transported 431,000 people to Nakhchivan and Ganja, representing 15% of the total passenger traffic.
During the same period, through freight terminals of the airport 11.4 million tons of cargo was transported.
The most popular international destinations from Baku remain Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai and Kiev. They account for 38.3% of the total number of passengers traveling abroad. The list of the most popular destinations in 2016 also included Antalya, Tehran and Tbilisi. The large influx of passengers this year was observed from Iraqi cities - Baghdad, Basra and Najaf: the total to almost 60 thousand.
In 2016, Azerbaijan began operating flights with the airlines Pegasus, Iraqi Airways, Fly Baghdad, ATA Airlines, Air Cairo and Komavia Trans.
With the entry into force of the winter schedule (30 October) opened regular flights with the Russian low-cost company Victory (Rostov-Baku) and the Iranian airline Mahan Air (Tehran-Baku).
The new terminal of the Heydar Aliyev Airport (Terminal 1) was put into operation in April 2014. Its total area is 65,000 square meters. --- 08D

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
