Pipes for TAP construction delivered to Albania
The first pipes, which will be used for construction of the Albanian section of the Trans Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP), will be delivered to Albania, reported TAP consortium.
The event has been held in this connection near Durres city with participation of Albanian Premier Edi Rama, Minister of Energy and Industry of Albania Damian Giknoori, representatives of local authorities, TAP contractors, local companies and other interested parties.
Albanian Premier Edi Rama and Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Giknoori have emphasized TAP importance as one of the important energy projects, owing to which Albania will participate at Europe’s energy market. They mentioned positive role, which TAP will open for development of Albania’s economy and affect development of energy infrastructure of the country.
TAP representative in Albania Sholhin Bozgo said: “We are looking forward towards construction of the Albanian section of TAP. This is a great project and its successful implementation will become possible as a result of productive cooperation of all interested parties.”
13,000 pipes 18 and 12 meters long will be used to lay the Albanian section of TAP. The pipes are made by German Salzgitter Mannesmann International Gmbh company.
TAP pipeline 878 km long will join Trans Anadolu gas pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border in Kipoi. TAP envisages gas transportation from the Shah Deniz-2 field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, through Greece and Albania, Adriatic Sea on the south of Italy and from there to western Europe. The initial pumping capacity of TAP will be 10 bcm of gas a year.
TAP shareholders include BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Snam S.p.A. (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagas (16%) and Axpo (5%). –0--
