Retail Sales in Azerbaijan Not Yet Developed
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in retail trade turnover in 2013 large and medium-sized enterprises had 8.2%, small enterprises - 3.7%, and individuals - 88.1% .
Moreover, among the traders there was no monopolization, said the report of local Pasha Bank, which took over the functions of the national management consulting. In its study on the basis of the international specialized company AT Kearney it is said that five of the largest market participants in trade for food account for only 5% of the retail sales.
"A large number of participants and a very low share of the major players in the total turnover are inherent in the retail market, which is at the stage of formation. In principle, the development of small market players should leave it with an increase in the proportion of hyper players," the report says, mentioning the fact that in France the same 96% of the retail trade in food is held at the super and hypermarkets. In Germany the figure is at 80%, and in Turkey - 60%.
According to the study, the retail sector in Baku has about 100 large stores that offer more than 20 000 names of products. --17D-
