Road Map Adopted for Development of Tourism Industry
President Ilham Aliyev approved the road map for the development of the tourism industry, the implementation of which will open 25,000 new jobs by 2020.
The document reflects the 16 priority areas of tourism development in Baku and regions of the country. The coordination tasks will be promoted by the National Tourism Bureau, which will be created in 2017.
If the government can achieve its objectives, real GDP growth from tourism will amount to 465 million manat in 2020.
The government expects growth in the number of foreign tourists mainly from Iran, the Persian Gulf countries, Russia, etc. By 2020, the number of overnight stays in hotels of Baku will increase from 0.8 million (2015) to 3.65 million / day, and average length of stay in hotels - from 2 to 3 days. In general, as a result of the planned measures the number of foreign tourists in Baku is up to 900 thousand people (in 2015 - 0.5 million).
The level of filling of health facilities in Naftalan in 2020 will amount to 60%, an increase of 15% by paragraph. For this transport communication will be developed between Baku and Naftalan, including railway connection. -----08D.

Discussions were held in Baku within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, focusing on the "Decarbonization and Climate Adaptation of the Cotton-to-Clothing Value Chain." Among other topics, the state of cotton farming in Azerbaijan was also addressed.

Azerbaijan has attracted significant interest from companies in both developing and developed countries, as well as from state and private sector representatives of at least 10 nations, regarding participation as shareholders in the Climate Finance Action Fund (CFAF), which has a total budget of $1 billion. The CFAF is one of Azerbaijan’s 14 key initiatives unveiled at COP29, Yalchin Rafiev, Azerbaijan's chief negotiator at COP29 and Deputy Foreign Minister, said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Azerbaijani government has proposed that the OPEC Fund participate in financing several renewable energy projects, including offshore wind energy development, green energy corridor initiatives, and a 1 GW project planned by SOCAR in partnership with the UAE-based company Masdar.
