Subsidies for Cotton and Tobacco Received by 4,342 Subjects
The State Commission chaired by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilham Guliyev took a decision on February 10 on the distribution of subsidies to producers of cotton and tobacco. Total subsidies to cotton farmers will be received by 4,145 cotton growers and 197 tobacco growers in 31 regions of the country.
In 2016, the government revised the rules for granting subsidies to cotton and tobacco growers. While earlier it was tied to the sown areas, the grants are now given, depending on the raw material sold to processing plants this year. It stimulates the growth of production and improves the targeting of state aid, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
For every kilogram of cotton the producers receive 10 gepiks, for every 10 kg of non -dried tobacco - 5 gepiks and for 1 kg of dried tobacco - 5 gepiks.
The volume of subsidies to cotton producers will be 8 million 872.8 thousand manat, and for tobacco - 96.3 thousand manat. ----08D
