Water Consumption in Azerbaijan Reduced by 25%
Since 2009, Azerbaijan has a tendency to reduce water consumption. In 2011 compared to 2009 water consumption decreased by 37.2% or 156.6 million m3. Experts believe that this is the result of the installation of water meters.
Only in 2011, water consumption reduced by 85.8 million m3 (25%), the State Statistics Committee told Turan. In the past years the state monopoly to supply water - JSC Azersu - calculated the state standard of water supply (6 m3 per person per month), but now 510 thousand households or 47.4% of the population calculate this on the counter. Since 2011, the Tariff (Price) Council reduced this rate from 6 to 3 m3.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the volume of water supply and sanitation services in the country amounted to 189.2 million manat. This is 22.4% more than in 2010. Recall that in February 2011 the tariffs for services of Azersu were increased by an average of 60%. Currently a cubic meter of water for the population is 0.30 manat (AZN 0.18 previously).
In the field of water purification supplies about 22 thousand people are employed. The average monthly wage in the industry (230 AZN) is about 40% lower than the average of employed persons in the country. - 08B-
