Baku/11.05.23/Turan: According to IRNA, the Director General for Culture and Islamic Leadership of Alborz Province, Said Jabri Ansari, called on advertising centers to take immediate measures within a month to regulate the use of the Persian language in institutions such as shops, stalls, crossings and billboards. The goal is to remove foreign names, including Turkic ones, and promote the preservation of the Persian language at the provincial level.

Jabri Ansari emphasized the significance of Persian language and literature in Iranian culture during the week dedicated to preserving the Persian language. He stressed the need to utilize Persian words instead of foreign words, particularly in visually prominent cases like billboards and trade union establishments. Instances of violations, where foreign and inappropriate names contradict the country's laws and Islamic Iranian culture, should be corrected through organized measures.

Jabri Ansari mentioned that the General Directorate of Islamic culture and guidance in Alborz province, in collaboration with other cultural institutions, is addressing this issue. The Chamber of Commerce has been urged to exercise caution in granting naming permits for trade union units and report violators to the relevant authorities. This action aims to prevent further continuation of activities that go against the country's laws.

The Director General of Islamic culture and guidance in Alborz province stated that trade unions, advertising boards, and city-level signs within Alborz province will now only be authorized to use names listed in the "Persian language protection" system. Any other names will be deemed "unauthorized."

The director justified the decision to remove non-Persian names and impose a ban as a means of supporting the development and promotion of the Persian language.

Simultaneously, the director general of Al-Ahwaz (Khuzestan) took a similar stance, considering non-Persian names as "foreign" and "non-Iranian." He also called for action to protect the Persian language in the titles of trade union establishments such as shops, passages, stores, and advertising boards at the provincial level.

This move, characterized by some as fascist, follows a recent announcement by Iran's Minister of Education, who stated that the use of non-Persian names and terms on domestically produced goods and shop headers will be prohibited in order to safeguard the Persian language.

It should be noted that in Iran, the Turks are called Azerbaijanis, who are the titular people along with the Persians. The number of Iranian Turks reaches 30 million people.--0--
