The "brigadier General" of Hamas, Ayman Nufal, was eliminated
newsru.co.il: The terrorist group announced the death of Ayman Nufal, one of the commanders of the Izaddin al-Qassam Brigades. Nufal was a member of the liberal military council of Hamas and, among other things, was responsible for coordinating actions with Islamic Jihad.
He died as a result of an IDF strike on the Al-Bureij refugee camp.
The IDF press service confirmed the liquidation of one of the high-ranking members of the Hamas terrorist organization, the commander of the central district brigade, formerly the commander of the military intelligence group. "Ayman Nufal is behind many terrorist attacks against ordinary Israelis and security services, and also identified the targets of rocket attacks, in particular on residential areas," the IDF said in a statement.
According to Israeli intelligence, Nufal in the past was engaged in the production and development of weapons, participated in the planning of the abduction of Gilad Shalit. He had great influence in the group and was part of the inner circle of Muhammad Deif.
Ayman Nufal served a sentence in Egypt during the reign of President Husni Mubarak for illegally crossing the border. On January 30, 2011, after the overthrow of the president, he escaped from prison.
Earlier, the terrorist group reported the death of Fuad Abu Tihian, the head of the Department of Borders and Checkpoints in the Gaza Strip, who had a "general" rank in the structures of Hamas.
