A SES from "Masdar" company has been put into operation in Azerbaijan
Baku/26.10.23/Turan: On October 26, President Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening ceremony of the Garadagh Solar Power Plant (SPP) with a capacity of 230 MW, built by the Arab company "Masdar", the message on the website of the head of state. The construction of the Garadagh SPP has been carried out since 2022, at a cost of $250 million.
Putting the power plant into operation will provide 110 thousand apartments with electricity, save 110 million cubic meters of gas annually and prevent emissions of 265 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
The project will allow Azerbaijan to reduce its dependence on thermal energy, help in the development of renewable energy sources and increase their share in the Azerbaijani energy system from 16.5% to 21.2%.
At first the supply of electricity from this SPP will not lead to an increase in the tariff for consumers, although electricity from renewable energy sources is more expensive worldwide, an informed source told Turan.
