Action "Reporters without Borders" before the Council of Europe
A group of members of the international human rights organization "Reporters without Borders" and political refugees from Azerbaijan held a joint protest rally on June 24 in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
As reported by the organizers, the protesters demanded the release of journalists and bloggers arrested in Azerbaijan. The action itself was held at a time when the PACE session was addressed by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The participants were holding posters with images of imprisoned journalists and were chanting slogans demanding their release. They also demanded that the PACE deputies demand from Baku to release the detained media workers.
A similar action took place in the hall when Aliyev spoke. He did not hide his irritation. -16D-
