After meeting with the UN Secretary General and Erdogan, Zelensky named the only condition for negotiations with the Russian Federation
Kyiv/18.08.22/UNIAN: After a trilateral meeting with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary General António Guterres, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that dialogue with Russia is possible only if the occupying forces are completely withdrawn from the territory of Ukraine. He said this after the meeting on August 18 in Lvov, writes "Suspilna".
The Turkish president stated following the meeting, both Zelensky and Guterres agree that the war in Ukraine should be ended at the negotiating table. The main thing is to determine the path to the negotiating table," the president said. The tripartite meeting, he said, considered using the positive atmosphere of the Istanbul Grain Agreement to achieve sustainable peace.
But UNPO representative Farhan Haq, following today's talks in Lvov, stressed that negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow on the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine are still far away.
Recently President Zelensky said that negotiations with the Russian Federation are not a dialogue, but an ultimatum from Russia, and if "referendums" are held in the occupied territories, negotiations with Ukraine will be closed for Moscow.
Today a trilateral meeting was held at the Potocki Palace (Lviv) with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UN Secretary General António Guterres. It was closed to the press and lasted 40 minutes.
The meeting was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, head of the National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan and presidential press secretary Ibrahim Kalin.
It was announced that the meeting will discuss steps that should be done to stop the Ukrainian-Russian war through diplomacy.--0--
