Azerbaijani human rights activists against the PACE deputies
A group of civil society activists in Azerbaijan launches a campaign against PACE members who did not support at the PACE winter session the report of Christoph Strasser on political prisoners in Azerbaijan.
One hundred and twenty five deputies voted against the resolution, including six members of the delegation of Azerbaijan. The campaign will be against the other 119 members of parliament.
"Disquieting factor is that a number of delegations were against the full resolution. MPs of some Western Europe countries were also against, " reads the statement of the initiators of the campaign spread by the Election Monitoring and Democratic Studies Center (EMDSC.)
"The results of voting in PACE met the interests of the government of Azerbaijan and the deprived of the support by Council of Europe the people suffering from repression," reads the statement.
Against the report of Strasser voted all 18 deputies from Russia, 10 - Turkey, 9 - Italy, 8 – Spain, 8 - UK, 6 - France, 6-Ukraine, 5 – Poland, 5 – from Czech Republic, and others.
The initiators of the campaign intend to call on the structure of the Council of Europe to express distrust to the PACE Monitoring Committee Rapporteurs Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Grech, who also voted against the resolution of Strasser.
The initiators of the campaign will called on PACE not to include those who voted against Strasser into the delegation, which will monitor the presidential elections in Azerbaijan in 2013.
Letters of protest with the list of candidates who have refused to support efforts to address the issue of political prisoners in Azerbaijan will be sent to parliament, the media, civil society and political parties in Europe.
The initiators of the campaign are the Resource Centre for Democracy and Human Rights, Legal Enlightenment Community, Human Rights Club, the Alliance to protect political freedoms, Election Monitoring and Democratic Studies Center, Institute for Peace and Democracy.—06D--

The United States and the European Union, which tried to position themselves as mediators in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, have come up with nothing and merely copied Russia's ideas, distorting their essence in order to "hijack" the peace process for themselves. However, their true goal was to take control of the region, to insert themselves into it, and to push out Russia, as well as Iran and Türkiye, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on November 13.
