Claims to Provide Covid-19 Drugs Only to Beneficiaries Hoax
Baku / 03.12.20 / Turan: The daily number of coronavirus infections in Azerbaijan has reached such a value that healthy people are buying antiviral drugs in fear of contracting Covid-19. This leads to a shortage, while popular drugs from this group (ergoferon, etc.) become impossible to find in pharmacies. According to the high demand, the price of such drugs is growing. Doctor Ogtay Huseynov told Turan that the price of a group of antiviral drugs reaches 500 manats. Not everyone can afford it.
“Patients diagnosed with Covid-19 should, when contacting a pharmacy, be sure to receive all the necessary drugs (antiviral, antiplatelet agents ...) in a separate package. The price should be fixed and preferential,” O. Huseynov said.
Doctor Adil Geybulla reported in the media that there is no cure for coronavirus. The treatment is not specific, but common for all viral diseases: strengthening the body's immune system, bed rest, taking fluids, while doctors prescribe anti-temperature drugs, paracetamol, tameflu, antibiotics, etc.
In an interview with Turan, an employee of the press service of the Ministry of Health did not confirm the prevailing opinion about the existence of privileged groups of the population who are entitled to free medicines. According to him, district doctors in polyclinics are obliged to give out a package with a vitamin complex (magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin D3, Zinc, Selenium, Paracetamol) to patients with symptoms of coronavirus free of charge. These drugs are used to treat and prevent complications from coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health does not determine or control the cost of medicines in pharmacies; this is the prerogative of the Tariff Council under the Cabinet of Ministers. In connection with the latest outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Tariff Council did not take decisions. The latest news on the activities of the CU is dated June 19, 2020.
“The state also provides free medicines to patients undergoing treatment in hospitals,” the Ministry of Health said.
There is no information on the possibility of free vaccination of the population of Azerbaijan in the Ministry of Health. In Turkey and Russia, it was decided to vaccinate the entire population of the country against coronavirus for free. Free vaccination has begun in Russia.
The Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, created on February 27, reacts to the second wave of coronavirus only with reports on the number of cases, recovered and deaths. The initial activity of the headquarters is not observed today, as if not at all. —0—
